What is an ID kit and why do I need one?

Simply, because it's smart.

The ID kits contain personalized Bike ID and Rider ID stickers which link to your personal identification information, making it easier to track stolen bikes, access your medical information and reach your family in the event of an emergency.

Signing up is quick, cheap and easy, and riding with your ID stickers ensures that you are protecting yourself on and off the road.

The Rider ID sticker is protection for you! It provides emergency services with your medical and emergency contact information in the event of an accident. The sticker goes on the outside of your helmet.

How does the Bike ID sticker work?

The Bike ID is a tool to help owners retrieve a lost or stolen bike.

The Bike ID is printed on a personalized sticker which the rider sticks somewhere safe on their bike frame. The sticker provides the iBikeRight website address and bike identification number, linking to owner’s contact information.

If your bike is lost or stolen, anyone who finds your bike will see the ID kit sticker and know to go to the iBikeRight site to get in touch with you.

If you lose your bike, register it as missing on the iBikeRight site. That way, the police can keep an eye out.

The Bike ID is free for you and does not ever need to be renewed.

The Rider ID sticker should be placed securely on the OUTSIDE of your helmet.

Will the ID sticker damage the paint on my bike frame?

No, the stickers are not designed to be unremovable and will not damage the paint on the frame when removed.
However, you should register your bike frame’s serial number in your iBikeRight profile as well as your ID code. This way, we can track your bike through its serial number, and your bike can be found, even if the ID sticker is removed when stolen.

Who can sign up for a ID kit?

Anyone over the age of 18 can sign up for an ID kit by registering on the iBikeRight website and placing an order. However, feel free to use the stickers on your kid's bike and helmet!

How does the Stolen Bike Registry work?

Once you have registered your bike with iBikeRight, if it goes missing, you have the ability to mark it stolen within our Stolen Bike Registry. Anyone who finds a missing bike can go on to the iBikeRight website and search the registry using either the Bikes ID code or frame serial number. If they have found your bike, they will be connected to you through email, and you can arrange to collect it.
There are many additional benefits to the registry: It allows the police to search the system when they find a missing bike and locate the owner. It also allows buyers of second hand bikes to ensure that the bike they are purchasing has not been reported stolen.
